One of the things worthwhile thinking about before you go out shooting is what you care about.
I mean really care about.
And what do you think about the world around you?
This is important because it allows you to focus on a specific subject matter, but also because it makes your pictures much more authentic.
They will come from your true self and people will be able to feel you when they see your pictures.
The underlying idea is to express yourself through your images.
So, why would you walk around taking pictures of trash cans if you are really interested in people in laundromats or whatever it is for you?
Sit down or lay down, turn off all distractions around you and think about this deeply and give yourself time to come up with an answer. This is one of the hardest and most important exercises for any creative.
It might take you hours or days to come up with an answer. But it will pay off handsomely in your future.
Once you figured out who you are artistically, you can focus on your passion and really make it work.
