Eliminating Distractions

Eliminating distractions from your life is a very effective way of improving your focus on what’s important to you.

If your mind is occupied with a thousand different things, you will have a hard time making progress with the things you really care about.

So, sit down and make a list of the things you want to accomplish in the next six months or so.

For example, a new car, a new job, a new partner, spiritual growth or whatever it may be.

Now, think about all the other things you do in your life that have nothing to do with these goals.

Hobbies, relationships with certain people, public obligations you have taken on.

Write it all down and then start crossing things out.

This may be painful in some cases, and you may piss a few people off, but this is your life, not theirs.

You are allowed to be selfish.

Here are a few things I gave up:

  • Television
  • One of my hobbies
  • Video games
  • A few friends that didn’t add anything to my life

At the end of this streamlining process, you should feel a lot more clear on what you want to achieve.

It’s this feeling of clarity we are going for. Because that will make a huge difference.

Your mind will now focus on the important things without all the clutter, and in doing so, will get you to your goal more quickly.

Start working with this new life improvement plan and see how it goes.

You may find that it needs some refinement later on. If that’s the case, just make the appropriate changes and carry on.

Good luck!
